Hi Chief Bob Chamberlin
I introduced myself briefly at today’s event.
I did so because I wanted you to know the person behind: www.fishfarmnews.blogspot.com.
It has become a global portal on fish farm issues, and looks to reach 400,000
page
views by the end of the year.
Here are some images from today. They are cropped to make
them an easier size to send.
The point I was making about on-land fish farms is that my
list has 194 different on-land farm systems, comprising almost 20,000 on-land
farms around the world. It is one of the most often viewed posts on the site: http://fishfarmnews.blogspot.ca/2016/05/152-different-on-land-fish-farm-systems.html.
The post starts with dozens of studies on on-land fish farms, costing studies
and so on. The Atlantic Sapphire on-land plant coming on stream in Florida, at
150,000 tons will severely impact the BC industry because they sell most
product into the USA – but not after AT is on stream. Also, Marine Harvest
executives are jumping ship to AT because they see the writing on the wall.
One final thing, Marine Harvest is putting $100,000,000 into
closed containment in Norway. Tell them to bring some of the cash here and do
it here because there is lots of land, and the Kroner is worth more in Canada
than at home.
